Introduction
Organic waste is a worldwide problem and a worldwide opportunity.
It arises in the fields; it arises as food and sewer waste. Disposal by landfill
is costly and polluting and creates hazards such as vermin. Our alternative
is to recycle the waste, also creating energy. HiRAD has proven proprietary
technology to provide a carbon neutral solution to the twin needs for clean
waste disposal, and renewable energy generation.
The biology to do this has been used for hundreds of years, but we have substantially
re-engineered the process; a natural process that used to take 20-45 days is
now achieved by HiRAD technology in 24 hours. This has a significant effect
on the logistics and economics of the operation.
HiRAD recycles organic wastes into Biogas for Renewable Energy generation, Organic
Fertilizer and Process Heat, preventing landfill and the escape of methane to
atmosphere, and is thus very beneficial for the environment.
The process is low cost, safe, scaleable, modular and proven. Because of the
many environmental benefits there is positive governmental encouragement for
planning, infrastructure, grants and loans. Our unusual problem is not one of
finding the market, but focussing on the most crucial needs.
The technology has fundamentally different economic driving forces in developed
and developing economies, though prevention of Global warming in the key target
and benefit.
In the UK and similar economies, EU and governmental targets and the escalating
cost of landfill are the driving force, with electricity generation and creation
of Organic fertiliser as a by-product providing substantial secondary benefits.
A further driving force is the desire of many organisations, from major retailers
to local authorities; to meet their own green or reduced landfill ambitions
rapidly and in the practical way offered by HiRAD.
A HiRAD plant can be operational just 6 months from grant of planning permission
for the site.
